BOWDITCH & DEWEY, LLP LAUNCHES B&D Advisors To Provide Independent Financial and
Investment Advice and To Manage Investments
WORCESTER, MASS (September --, 2002) Bowditch & Dewey, LLP, an 87-year-old,
Massachusetts-based law firm, announced today the launch of a full-service
financial planning and investment management subsidiary, B&D Advisors, LLC. B&D
Advisors is a Registered Investment Advisor, fully licensed to provide
investment services and sell products ranging from stocks and bonds to mutual
funds, insurance, IRAs, and 401(k) plans.
While some accounting firms and individual attorneys are licensed to sell
investment products and services, Bowditch & Dewey is breaking new ground for
law firms. The new subsidiary builds on the firm's trust department, which has
provided sophisticated tax and estate planning services for over 50 years and
currently manages nearly $250 million in assets. Three senior partners in
Bowditch & Dewey's Trust Department, Michael D. Brockelman, Christopher G.
Mehne, and John F. Shoro, are licensed as General Securities Representatives and
will manage the new venture.
B&D Advisors provides professional and comprehensive investment advice,
financial planning and investment management services. The firm's senior
partners are seasoned trust and tax attorneys who have provided advice to
corporate and individual clients for decades and have successfully completed the
NASD Series 7 and Series 65 or 66 requirements.
"B&D Advisors was created by Bowditch & Dewey to meet the full range of our
clients' financial and investment needs," says Michael Brockelman, director of
the firm's Trust Department and Senior Financial Advisor at B&D Advisors. "Some
other law firms offer financial advice, but until now, trust attorneys have
stopped short of actually managing investments for individual clients."
According to Robert Longden, Managing Partner of Bowditch & Dewey, LLP, the new
subsidiary is a logical extension of the firm's nearly century old tradition of
service and independent counsel. "B&D Advisors is a breakthrough for our
corporate and individual clients," says Longden. "The conventional method of
managing investments forces many investors to rely separately on a tax planner,
financial planner, estate planner, investment advisor, and broker for advice,"
adds Longden. "Now, for the first time, the attorneys who provide clients with
tax strategies and estate plans can also, through B&D Advisors, provide
independent financial advice and manage client investments. We are proud to be a
pioneer in this area and to provide an innovate new way to serve our clients."
B&D Advisors, through its representatives, offers a complete range of
investments from major providers such as Fidelity, MFS, Salomon Brothers Asset
Management and nearly 12,000 mutual funds. It is not affiliated with any
specific fund or security, so investment options are unlimited and based solely
on the financial goals of each client.
One of Massachusetts' premier law firms, Bowditch & Dewey was founded in 1914
and has offices in Worcester and Framingham. B&D Advisors can be reached at
508-926-3660 or at its web site, www.bd-advisors.com.
