Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA)


The Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA) is currently known as
the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA).
In February 2003,
the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA) was renamed as the EBSA.
The EBSA protects the integrity of pensions, health plans, and other employee benefits for working Americans. It provides information on 73,000 retirement plans and six million private health plan and helps people navigate the Department of Labor's paperwork maze.
Name History: EBSA took its current name in 2003; Prior to 2003, it known as the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA); Prior to 1986, it was the Pension and Welfare Benefits Program (PWBP), begun in 1959.
