Investment Philosophy
Debt is Overused
We believe debt is overused and under-considered as a risk factor. Too much debt can make businesses and economies shaky, especially when times get tough. Our strategy focuses on investing in enterprises with minimal debt and strong cash flows which are more sustainable during economic ups and downs. We opt for less leverage to build a portfolio with lasting stability and growth.
Fiat is a Melting Ice Cube
We believe in sound money and that fiat is a melting ice cube. In 1944, a new world order was born at the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. With the average lifespan of a fiat currency only lasting about 30 years, the US dollar is only the reserve currency until it is not. In times of financial crisis and the devaluation of currencies, more people tend to pay attention to money, inflation, and how money works.
Decentralization over Centralization
We believe in decentralization and the power of the individual vs centralization and totalitarian control. With the introduction of Bitcoin in 2009, a new cryptographic form of money was born. Decentralization has brought on new business models and technology advancements in open-source software, file sharing and cryptocurrencies that offer anti-fragility and resilience. Here at Atlantic Financial, our industry experts go beyond Bitcoin to follow all of the latest trends in digital assets.
Human Freedom and Free Markets Lead to Prosperity
We believe that human freedom and free markets lead to economic prosperity. When free from excessive government control, corporations are more easily able to promote innovation and efficiency. Individual liberty and voluntary exchange lead to significant economic progress. We prioritize investments that uphold these principles and aim for sustainable growth.
Sharing in Risk and Reward
We believe equities are one of the greatest tools for building wealth and that stocks are an ideal structure for sharing risk and reward. The purpose of a company is to maximize long-term value to their investors by providing value. We target companies with a long-term growth strategy that fit within our view of the changing world.
Having a Global Outlook
We believe in a global outlook that includes an examination of major trends informed by demographics, geopolitics, and other factors. Old systems are rapidly being replaced by new ones. The world is changing in a significant way today and strategies that worked in previous decades may be irrelevant or obsolete now.
Value Investing
We believe in value investing and finding companies that earn money and grow but which are priced lower than similar peers. We look for value in terms of classic indicators like price to earnings ratio and using market comparisons and other data for startups and private investments.
